The work spans multi-tenant architecture and isolation, internal developer platforms that let product teams ship safely, CI/CD and release engineering, observability and SLOs, and the FinOps discipline that keeps cost-per-tenant sustainable. Reliability is a product feature when customers are paying for uptime.
The differentiator is operating multi-tenant systems at scale with cost economics in view, plus increasingly the AI-infrastructure overlap (GPU scheduling, inference serving) that now commands a premium. Typical stack: AWS, GCP or Azure, Kubernetes, Terraform and an internal developer platform layer.
Where they come from
The deepest pools sit inside the large SaaS scale-ups (Canva, Atlassian, SafetyCulture, Deputy, Culture Amp) and the cloud consultancies. The useful profile has run platforms at multi-tenant scale and can reason about reliability and cost together, not as a trade-off made by someone else.
